I'm on a super-tight budget at the moment. It's not fun. It means that certain expenses that didn't seem a problem before are suddenly so frivolous and unnecessary. Take nail polish, for example.
For ages my favourite nail polish was Christian Dior's Vernis a Ongles in Rose Souris (Dusty Rose). I think nude nails are the future. Nude shoes lengthen your legs, nude nails lengthen your fingers. And I have bizarrely tiny hands - they actually look like toddler hands so I need all the help I can get in that department.
My current nail crush is basically the Chanel collection and some of the YSL collection. I've never really been one for bright nails, and rarely have red nails - I prefer accents in pastels or neutrals so these are perfect for me.
So the last 2 nail enamels I bought were actually very reasonably priced from GOSH, and I can definitely recommend them. These are they:
The colours are 'Miss Sweety' and 'Miss Minty' and cost £4.99 each. Very reasonable! Kinda remind me of my dying Dior polish and of Chanel Riva respectively.
My flatmate and I have also currently been experimenting with painting the tips of our nails different colours, a la inverted French manicure. My favourite take on this is a nude nail with a navy or black tip, but on a recent night out my flatmate had dark grey nails with mint tips and they looked so cool! Check out her blog here.
For Christmas I also received a selection of nail varnishes from Front Cover Cosmetics that aren't my normal colours, definitely falling under the 'brights' and 'darks' category. But they also come with a great tutorial on how to mix the complimentary colours on your nails for a watercolour effect. Something new for me. The set is called 7 Days, 7 Nails and is available here. They're great quality nail varnishes so I'd definitely recommend them - and since getting the set I've definitely been more adventurous with my nails. Plus, it's only £12!
Get your claws out!
Ciao for now,
Charlotte
